Spring Garden

Hey all we've successfully planted our spring weather vegetables: beets, carrots, peas, garlic, onion, broccoli, cauliflower, and lettuce...and our tomato plants survived despite being planted pretty early. Our lettuce is outta control - 4 types we have!!
We're also hoping that it being the second year that we've grown hops the plant will be mature enough to make beer! Also, Dad gave us a peony, last fall, that he inherited from his peony mentor in Michigan...greedily instead of planting one I split it and I've been giddily watching and just waiting, waiting, waiting for both to bloom!
I've been weeding buckets full of weeds almost everyday and getting to know my polaski again because I've put it upon myself to widen our garden along the path...yet another project.
I was pleasantly surprised (actually I did a little jig) when the sedum - dwarf stonecrop, that was paired w/ a potted iris, reseeded itself between the flagstone patio! I followed suit by planting more of it, LOL.
The rhododendrons have already put on a show w/ vibrant oranges and purples. Our irisis, poppies, roses, lupines, clematis and columbines are at the height of their beauty...cala lilies, euphorbia, milkweek, dianthus, alyssum, japanese irisis, raspberries, and day lilies are already stretching and just waiting to bloom.
