Our trip to Pelican Bay this year was cool chill’in. Since our kites and kite boards were lost by the airline we kicked it on the beach or by the pool.

Our average day was to sleep in until 9:30, have breakfast, walk down the block to the tram (oversized golf carts), get chauffeured over the berm through the mangroves, look for alligators and spoonbills, jaunt onto the beach to have international beach boys setup our cabaña and umbrella, snorkel, sail, swim in the pool, drive downtown, and listen to the music. Repeat.

If you can spot a small (bird's eye view photo), white rectangle by the beach, this is where we were. That is the South beach area where the tram dropped us off. About a mile north is the North beach area. It is a nice stroll between the two restaurants.

The high-rise condos are where we were staying. In the mangroves there is a winding river that can be canoed right to the ocean. We hear that the President's family stays at the hotel/beach across the estuary. We often saw Pelicans buzzing around across the horizon swooping in and out onshore. Hence, Pelican Bay.

In order to get to the beach you have to either walk or ride the tram on the berm and through the mangroves on a wood deck. We often went snorkeling and found sand dollars, crabs, live shells, and a pair of sunglasses. The snails in the shells would leave little trails in the sand. Over the course of the week we found 40+ sand dollars. During our last day I was in about 20ft of water, completely tired, and saw a huge shell at the bottom. Dan went down and fetched it for me :)

Dan and Hannah were lucky to have five dolphins join them while they were sailing the Hobie.

The days were so hot that I'd sit under the umbrella to keep cool. Otherwise, the sun was so intense that my skin felt like it was burning. The only time I was in the sun was during our water excursions in the ocean or pool.

We flew back from Florida to Seattle and we were greeted by 46 degree weather. The next day we visited Bruce Lee's Grave on Capitol Hill to pay our respects. Afterwards we drove Downtown and went up into the Space Needle. We were awed with the panoramic views of the city and landscape.

You could see Puget Sound to the North and West, Lake Union and Capitol Hill to the East, and Downtown Seattle to the South. We were lucky it was such a clear day being that it is cloudy 226 days of the year in Seattle!

Soon after visiting the Space Needle we hopped onto the monorail taking us Downtown. We walked to Pike Place Market and gorged ourselves on Piroskys, Giros, Baklava, and honey sticks. As you can see Pikes is a smattering of vibrant colors and fragrances.
